Charlene Axley

Charlene Evonne Axley, 90, of Idaho Falls, passed away February 7, 2026, at her home. She was under the care of Brio Hospice.

Charlene was born July 20, 1935, in Santa Clara, California, to Howard Velois Fournier and Eva Christina McClure Fournier. She grew up and attended schools in Hayward, California, and graduated from Hayward High School.

On March 20, 1954, she married William Kenneth Axley in Reno, Nevada. Charlene and William made their home in Vallejo, California, where Charlene worked as a clerk in retail and also for a physicians office. They relocated to Idaho Falls two years ago to be with family.

She was an avid gardener, and her yard resembled a beautiful park with many varieties of flowers and plants..

Charlene is survived by her son, Richard Kenneth Axley of Lancaster, MO; son, Douglas Edward Axley of Lodi, CA; daughter, Melanie Lynne Bement of Idaho Falls, ID; sister, Donna May Gretler of Sacramento, CA; 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Kenneth Axley; and her parents, Howard and Eva Fournier.

Private family services will be held at a later date. Burial will be in the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery in Blackfoot.
