Our Caring Staff
Wood Funeral Home was originally started as the Dinwoody Funeral Home in 1911 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Jack A. Wood, Sr. bought the business and moved to Idaho Falls with his family in 1925. It was located at the time on the corner of Broadway and the Yellowstone Highway. He moved the business to its current location on Elm Street & North Ridge in 1928. Our funeral home is still wholly owned and operated by the Wood family.



Jon is a licensed funeral director and mortician who has been a valued part of the funeral home since 1977. A graduate of the San Francisco College of Mortuary Science, Jon dedicated decades of service to the community before retiring from full-time work in July 2019. He is the son of the late Jack Jr. and Marjorie Heileson Wood. Jon and his wife, Tamara Hulet Wood, are the proud parents of six children—Heather Camp, Brian, Candace Peters, Austin, Stefan, and Traci—and grandparents to nine granddaughters and three grandsons. He resides on the west side of Idaho Falls.


Brian serves as a licensed funeral director and mortician and is the owner of Wood Funeral Home. He has been part of our team since 2004. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management from Brigham Young University–Idaho and a degree in Mortuary Science from Mesa Community College in Arizona. Brian is the son of Jon and Tammy Wood. He is a past President of the Board of Directors for the Idaho Funeral Service Association and is committed to upholding the highest standards in funeral service. Brian and his wife, Kayla Belliston Wood, reside in Ammon with their four children—McKenzie, Devan, Remi, and Jordan.


Stefan is a licensed funeral director and mortician who has been serving families with care and professionalism since joining our team in 2013. He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management from Brigham Young University–Idaho and a degree in Mortuary Science from Mount Hood Community College in Gresham, Oregon. Stefan is the son of Jon and Tammy Wood. He and his wife, Rebecca Maughan Wood, live on the west side of Idaho Falls with their four children—daughters, Mileah, Mikelle, and Aura Lea, and their son, Taylor.


Cory serves as our Front-End Manager and is a licensed funeral director, mortician, and pre-planning advisor. He has been a valued member of our team since 1997. A graduate of Brigham Young University in Provo and the Dallas Institute of Funeral Service in Texas, Cory brings both compassion and professionalism to his role. Originally from Ammon, he is the son of Bart and Janie Brower. Cory and his wife, Elena, reside in Ammon. They have five children.


Ryan is our Back-End Manager and a licensed funeral director and mortician. A dedicated member of our team since 1996, he brings decades of experience and leadership to his role. He graduated from the Dallas Institute of Funeral Service in Texas and is committed to serving families with care and integrity. Originally from Mantua, Utah, Ryan is the son of Stewart and Janet Reeves. He and his wife, Heidi Baldwin Reeves, live in Iona, and are the proud parents of four children and grandparents to nine grandchildren.


Jason is a licensed funeral director and mortician who has been with us since 1997. A graduate of Arapahoe Community College, he is the son of the late Raymond and Carol Skillings of Idaho Falls. Jason and his wife, Alesa, live in central Idaho Falls with their two daughters, Shayla and JaNeil. He is known for his compassionate approach and commitment to serving families in their time of need.


Brian is a licensed funeral director and mortician who has been with our team since 2005. He is a graduate of the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science in Pennsylvania and brings years of experience and dedication to his role. Brian currently serves on the Board of Morticians for the State of Idaho Bureau of Occupational Licenses. He is the son of Joyce McBride and the late Ralph McBride. Brian and his wife, Jessie, live in Ammon, and together, they are the proud parents of eight children.


Kevin is a licensed funeral director and mortician who joined our team in 2015, bringing with him over 25 years of experience in funeral service. Born and raised in Idaho Falls, he is a graduate of Idaho Falls High School, and attended Idaho State University before earning his Mortuary Science degree from the San Francisco College of Mortuary Science. Kevin is a past President of the Idaho Funeral Service Association and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Mortuary Science program at Salt Lake Community College. He and his wife, Mitzi Bennett Bodily, have three children and make their home north of Idaho Falls.


Courtney is a licensed funeral director and mortician who also serves as co-manager of our crematory operations. She has been a dedicated member of our team since 2003, combining her expertise with a compassionate approach to serving families. Courtney is the daughter of Mark and Anne Bennion, and she earned her degree from Mount Hood Mortuary College in 2010. Known for her commitment and warmth, she plays a vital role in ensuring thoughtful and respectful care in every aspect of her work.


Jordan is a licensed funeral director and co-manager of our crematory operations, joining the team in 2022. He holds an Associate’s Degree in Mortuary Science from Arapahoe Community College in Colorado. Jordan and his wife, Madison K. Ball, reside in Shelley with their three sons. Jordan is committed to providing compassionate and professional care in all aspects of his role.


Cole is a licensed funeral director and mortician. Originally from Rexburg, he is the son of Corey and Charlotte Foster. Cole is a graduate of Brigham Young University–Idaho and earned his degree in Mortuary Science from Mid-America College of Funeral Service. He is married to Tabitha Foster, and is committed to providing thoughtful, respectful care in his work.


Kim serves as our Office Manager and has been an integral part of our team since 2014. She is the daughter of Reuel and Lynet Smith. Kim earned her Associate’s Degree in Business Management from Ricks College, bringing strong organizational and leadership skills to her role. She is married to Rod Sorenson, and together, they are proud parents to five children and proud grandparents to a very special grandson. The family enjoys living in Ammon, where Kim balances her professional responsibilities with a deep commitment to her community and family life.


Elaine is an office assistant and has been with us since 2012. She is the daughter of Bud (deceased) and Renee Johnson of Rexburg. She is a fifth-generation Idahoan with a long-standing interest in family history. She lives in east Idaho Falls.


Mitzi Bodily has been a valued member of our team since 2017, serving as an office assistant with dedication and warmth. A native of Idaho Falls, she is the daughter of the late Gary Bennett and Joan Bennett. Mitzi is married to Kevin Bodily, one of our funeral directors, and together, they have three children. The Bodily family resides north of Idaho Falls where they enjoy being part of the local community.


Alesa joined our team in 2021 as an Office Assistant, bringing dedication and support to our daily operations. She is the daughter of Vernon and Carolinn Gaffner and is married to Jason Skillings, one of our funeral directors. Together, they have two daughters and a granddaughter.


Cathryn joined our team as an Office Assistant in 2022. Growing up as an "Army Brat," she experienced life in many different places, which has given her a unique perspective and flexibility in her work. With both parents originally from Idaho, she maintains strong roots in the area.


Jessie joined our team as an Office Assistant in 2023. Originally from Kentucky, she has proudly called Idaho home for the past eight years. Jessie and her husband, Brian, reside in Ammon, and together, they are the parents of eight children. She brings dedication and a strong work ethic to her role, balancing professional responsibilities with a fulfilling family life.


Nicole is both an office assistant and a licensed funeral director who rejoined our team in 2025. She began her journey with us as an intern, progressed to an apprentice, and ultimately became a funeral director. Nicole currently resides in Rigby, and continues to bring dedication and expertise to her role.


Jenna Sumsion joined our team in 2022 as our media specialist, bringing creativity and technical expertise to our video and audio productions. She studied music education at Brigham Young University-Idaho and Idaho State University. She is the daughter of Steve and Geri Zollinger of Idaho Falls and is married to Justin Sumsion. Together, they have three children and enjoy being active members of the Idaho Falls community.


Trudy has been with us since 1995. She and her husband, Drew, handle maintenance for our Ammon location. She's the daughter of Delbert and June (deceased) Winterfeld of Swan Valley. She and Drew have six children, Adrienne, Vanessa Bonnell, Frank McClure, Catherine Smith, David McClure, and Whitney. She has eight grandchildren and lives in Idaho Falls.


Amy is a Pre-Planning and Aftercare Advisor, and has been with us since 2013. She is the daughter of Dennis and Sharon Dahlke of Virginia, Idaho. She is a graduate of Ricks College. Amy has four children, Mikaila, Katelynn, Dillon, and Hailey. She lives in Ammon.


Jennifer Howard is a Preplanning and Aftercare Advisor. She joined us in 2023. Jennifer is the daughter of Jim and Linda Mortensen of Rexburg. She is married to Jim Howard and has three children and two terrific grandchildren. She lives on Snake River Landing in Idaho Falls.


Haley is a Preplanning and Aftercare Advisor. She joined us in 2023. Haley is the daughter of Derk and Lisa Heiner of Melba, Idaho. She is married to Daniel Morley, and together they have four children, Damon, Rafe, Jagger, and Raquel. Haley and her family have lived in Idaho Falls for nine years.
