Westley Williams Obituary

On May 7, 2022, Westley "Wes" Ace Williams, 84, began his new adventure beyond the veil. Wes passed at his home of 84 years surrounded by his loving family and four loyal kitties.

Wes was born in Idaho Falls, Idaho, on August 29, 1937, to Jesse Leroy Williams Sr. and Emma Clara Pallanck Williams. He was raised in Idaho Falls and attended Idaho Falls High School. On April 27, 1955, Wes enlisted in the army and served in Germany during the Cold War. He returned to the states on April 9, 1958, and was later honorably discharged on April 26th, 1963.

After returning, he married Carol Marie Bowen on November 5, 1958. Together they had six children: Tonia, Wes, Linnette, Teresa, Chad, and Dominique. Wes and Carol later divorced but stayed close friends throughout their entire lives. If the family went out to eat, Wes always invited Carol. The two shared many hobbies, including photography and videography, golf, and reading.

“We were better friends than we were a couple.”

On the numerous occasions where Wes welcomed a new face into the family, he never let go of them. His love persisted no matter what happened within their relationships. This love spread beyond the family to include even the friends of his grandchildren. He made it a point to ensure everyone was taken care of. He jumped to anyone’s aid without the need to ask nor with an expectation of receiving anything in return.

Aside from his time overseas, Wes only once moved out from his childhood home – a home which his father built before Wes or his siblings were born – to Rexburg, Idaho, where he opened his business, Ace Upholstery. This venture lasted until 1976, when he closed up shop and moved his family back to his childhood home, across the driveway from his older brother, Jesse. Having now returned to Idaho Falls, he began work at Idaho Canvas making covers for boats, and later, he worked for RS&I as an Electronic Specialist.

Wes was a wonderful, loving father, as well as a perfect grandfather. He never feared showing off his childish side when he spent time with any of the kids in his life. One of his youngest grandchildren took to him and it became rare to see them without one another.

Wes is survived by his children, Tonia (Brent) Guymon of Iona, ID, Wes Jr. (Pepper) Williams of Twin Falls, ID, Linnette (Mark) Giles of Surprise, AZ, Teresa Williams of Idaho Falls, ID, Dominique Brody of Idaho Falls, ID; his brother, Jesse (Karen) Williams of Idaho Falls ID; and his sister Marge (Garth) Hurley of Idaho Falls, ID; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Sr. and Emma Williams; his son, Chad Lee Williams; his siblings, Evelyn Scott and Bill Green; and two grandsons, Jeremy Williams and Austin Call.

His urn will be placed, with military honors, at 9:00 a.m. Friday, June 3, 2022, at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery in Blackfoot, Idaho.
