Stephanie Marie (Schweitzer) Monk, age 50, passed away Saturday, January 1, 2022, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
Stephanie will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Darin Monk; two children, Jackson and Sydney; mother, Vicki Kidd; father, Stephen Schweitzer; sister and brother-in-law, Sherri and Keith Poston; brother and fiancé, Stephen Schweitzer and Molly Pearson; stepbrothers, Travis Kidd and Tod Kidd; and many nieces and nephews. Stephanie was preceded in death by her grandmother, Hazel Bechtel; and stepfather, Jim Kidd.
Stephanie was the third born to Stephen and Vicki in Merriam, Kansas, on November 3, 1971. At a young age, the family relocated to Boise, Idaho, where she grew up. Even as a young girl, it was apparent that she was very charismatic and outgoing, she had many friends throughout her life. She was very active and always on the go. As a young woman, Stephanie grew up attending schools in the Boise area, and graduated from Capital High School. Soon thereafter, she attended Boise State University and Idaho State University where she earned her Associate Degree and certification in cosmetology.
While working at the Burger & Brew in Boise, a young man captured her heart, and on August 10, 1996, she married the love of her life, Darin Monk. They relocated to Idaho Falls as Darin began his teaching career. In 1999, they welcomed their first child, Jackson, to their family. Stephanie was beyond ecstatic as having a family was a lifelong dream. In two short years, in 2001, they welcomed their second child, Sydney, to their family. Her family was her first priority, she was an incredible caretaker and was always there to ensure they were supported.
Stephanie loved life and taking care of others. She worked at Hillview Elementary School and found great joy helping the children, while also making numerous lifelong friends. Stephanie could always be found on the sidelines of all the kids’ soccer games, making meals, enjoying going out to restaurants, going shopping, enjoying camping trips, and more than anything else, spending time with family and friends.
