Sandra McBride Obituary

Sandra Kae Machen McBride, 67, of Idaho Falls, passed away on March 11, 2023, of lung cancer, at Hospice of Cincinnati – Anderson, while serving as a missionary in the Canada Toronto Mission (CTM). Her mission now is serving as a guardian angel for her family, friends, and CTM, having served a perfect life of love, and service.

Sandra was born, March 27, 1955, in Idaho Falls, ID, to Wendell M Machen and Bonnie Kae Killian Machen. She grew up on the farm in Osgood and attended Osgood Elementary, Central JH, and graduated from Skyline HS in Idaho Falls.

On August 14, 1973, she married Mark Kurtis McBride in the Ogden Utah Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Blessed to that union are 7 wonderful children, 31 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren, of whom she loved fiercely.

She was the biggest supporter of her family, friends, and everyone she met. She was the glue that held the Machen-Killian clan together. She never forgot anyone's important life event. To this day, her calendar is marked with birthday cakes to be made.

Sandra traveled to Texas, Washington, and Colorado, as Mark served in the U.S. Air Force from 1973-1979. They settled in Osgood, Idaho, where she raised her family and taught us all how to work hard, love, serve, and support. There never was enough time to visit all the people she loved, but we were all blessed with her smile, laugh, and love.

She worked different jobs, but the most tenured was as a Bonneville County non-certified deputy sheriff, and NorthStar Health Care where she met many wonderful lifelong friends. She was known for her baking, especially cinnamon rolls, those special birthday cakes, home-made rolls (buns for you Canadians), her laugh, her smile, and even the fragrance she wore. Her primary occupation in life was to love everyone.

It was important to support everyone she knew. Every funeral director from Shelley to Rexburg knew her as she supported friends and acquaintances in their time of grief. Mark would stand in line for hours while she went up and down any viewing or reception line greeting everyone she knew. During half-time at ball games, she would wander through the stands visiting those she knew.

She is survived by her husband, Mark; seven children: Kecia Morgan, Boise, ID; Tomie Nelson, Iona, ID; Brooke (Phil) Marticorena, Cottonwood Heights, UT; Wendy (Brandon) Johnson, Iona, ID; Bryce (Cassidy), Kansas City, MO; Brandon (Ashley), Pleasant Grove, UT; Brynn (Brandon) Miller, Cincinnati, OH; her mother, four brothers and one sister, as well as her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, a sister, Sharon, whom she never knew, many precious in-laws and grandparents, and grandchildren we never met.

The family extends our appreciation, too many to list, but most importantly Frank and Belinda VanderSloot for arranging to get her siblings, mother, many children, and grandchildren to Cincinnati before she passed. Dr. Mark Johns, M.D. Oncologist, Mercy-Anderson Hospital staff, Hospice of Cincinnati-Anderson staff, Brandon Miller, D.O. for assembling a medical staff to quickly diagnose and attend to her needs, Brynn Miller for opening up her home to so many that came to Cincinnati to see Sandra, Missionary Medical, and Brian Wood.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. March 30, 2023, at the Eagle Rock Stake Center, 2020 Charlotte Drive. The family will visit with friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. March 29, 2023, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue, and from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the church.
