Roy Herrera, 96, of Idaho Falls, passed away May 20, 2020, at his home. He was under the care of Aspen Home Health.
Roy was born October 18, 1923, in Lincoln, Idaho, to Jose M. Hererra and Luz de La Rosa Hererra. He grew up and attended schools in Idaho Falls and went on to receive his associate’s degree from Idaho State University. Roy then joined the U.S. Army and served his country during World War II and received the Purple Heart and additional medals. After he returned home, he met Marvine Lewis. Together they raised three children, Kriss, Janis, and Steve.
Roy was a professional musician and enjoyed playing the guitar and singing. He also was an interpreter for the court system and a beautician. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing golf. Most of all, he always put his family first.
Roy is survived by his wife, Marvine; children, Kriss (Dirk) Hollingsworth of Idaho Falls, ID, and Steve (Antonia) Herrera of Nipomo, CA; 6 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Sophie Solis, Alice Brul, and Sally De La Garza; brothers, Art Herrera, Jess Herrera, and Joe Herrera; and a daughter, Janis Mason.

Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, May 28, 2020, at Rose Hill Cemetery, 2355 Rollandet. Burial will follow.
Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Idaho Honor Guard.
