Pete Eugene Lister, 58, of Idaho Falls, passed away January 31, 2023.
Pete was born May 16, 1964, in Lawton, Oklahoma, to Martin Neilson Lister and Donna Maraget Peterson Lister. His dad was in the Army so he grew up a "Military Brat." After his dad retired, they came back to Idaho, and settled in Idaho Falls, where Pete graduated from Skyline High School. He was on the bowling team and took home the state championship in 1982. While still in high school, Pete enlisted in the Idaho National Guard. In 1984, he made the Army a full-time job so he could get married.
On July 21, 1984, he married Sindy McDowell in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Pete and Sindy went off to live the Army life. They moved with the Army to Kentucky and Germany. When the military life ended, they came home to Idaho Falls to settle down. In 1994, while driving to work in Sun Valley, he was hit by a semi that jack knifed. The accident took the sight in his left eye and left a severe brain injury. With Sindy by his side, Pete returned to living life. He continued walking walls as a rough framer, building a lot of homes in Idaho Falls and Victor.
Pete was a Christian. He was a backyard mechanic and restored two pick-ups and built his Harley Davidson in the basement. He enjoyed spending time in the outdoors at the annual float trip, fishing, and mountain biking. His newest hobby was slot car racing. He loved building the cars, then racing them.
Pete is survived by his loving wife, Sindy Lister of Idaho Falls, ID; sister, Cindi (DeWayne) Sievers of Richfield, ID; brother, William (Martine) Lister of France; brothers in-law, Eric (Stephanie) McDowell of Murray, UT, Bart (Denice) McDowell of Escondido, CA, and Rocky (Andrea) McDowell of Idaho Falls, ID; and parents-in-law, George and Jeannie McDowell.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and a grandniece, Ella Sievers.
