Omar Yañez

Omar Yañez, 26, of Ammon, passed away January 14, 2022, at Idaho Falls Community Hospital.

Omar was born May 9, 1995, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Pedro Yañez and Gabriela Teniente. He grew up and attended schools in Idaho Falls and graduated from Idaho Falls High School.

He was with Elizabeth Mendoza for ten years. Omar and Elizabeth made their home in Ammon, Idaho, where Omar worked as a startup engineer for Elevation Labs.

He was a member of the Catholic Church. He enjoyed soccer, playing football with his son, and playing dress-up with his daughter, Emma. He enjoyed watching anime, and working on his cars and truck. He enjoyed kayaking and hiking in the summer with his family. He was the life of any party, activity or event. He was always the first to lend a hand to family or anyone with a need. He was known for his corny jokes and always had you smiling and laughing. He loved his family dearly and always made time for them.

Omar is survived by his loving mother, Gabriela Teniente of Idaho Falls, ID; his high school sweetheart and significant other, Elizabeth Mendoza, and their children, Santiago (9) and Emma (3) of Ammon, ID; sister, Karina (Arturo) Yañez of Idaho Falls, ID; brothers, Hector (Rebekah) Yañez and Carlos (Maggie) Yañez, both of Idaho Falls, ID; nieces, Elliana (6) and Rosalina (5); and nephew, Mateo (10 mo).

He was preceded in death by his father, Pedro Yañez.

A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 20, 2022, at Christ the King Catholic Church with Father Francisco Flores officiating. A rosary will be held Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. with a visitation to follow until 8:00 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road. Burial will be in the Iona Cemetery.

A Omar le sobreviven su amada madre, Gabriela Teniente de Idaho Falls, ID; su novia de la escuela secundaria y otro significado, Elizabeth Mendoza, y sus hijos, Santiago (9) y Emma (3) de Ammon, ID; hermana, Karina (Arturo) Yañez de Idaho Falls, ID; hermanos, Hector (Rebekah) Yañez y Carlos (Maggie) Yañez, ambos de Idaho Falls, ID; sobrinas, Elliana (6) y Rosalina (5); y sobrino, Mateo (10 meses).

Le precedieron en la muerte su padre, Pedro Yáñez.

Se llevará a cabo una misa fúnebre a las 11:00 a. m. del jueves 20 de enero de 2022 en la Iglesia Católica Cristo Rey oficiando el Padre Francisco Flores. Un rosario se llevará a cabo el miércoles a las 6:30 p.m. con un velorio a seguir hasta las 8:00 p.m. en Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road. El entierro será en el Cementerio de Iona.
