Matthew Wellard Obituary

 

Matthew J. Wellard, 49, of Idaho Falls, passed away January 16, 2022, at his home. He was under the care of his loving family and One Source Home Health & Hospice.

Matt was born November 4, 1972, in Rexburg, Idaho, to Bradley J. Wellard and Sherry Lynn Summers Wellard. He grew up and attended schools in Carnation, Washington and graduated from Tolt High School.

On August 17, 1990, he married Tanya Escamilla. They were blessed with a daughter, Ashley Allen. Tanya and Matt were later divorced. He married Melissa Smart on October 23, 1993. They were blessed with two children, Chanse Wellard and David Smart. Melissa and Matt were later divorced. He married Tyanna Coffey and they were blessed with two children, Katelyn Marie Carney and Jayden Lane Wellard. They were later divorced. On July 25, 2015, he married Sadie Kay Threet in Idaho Falls, Idaho, and gained Justice, Hadden, Kristi, and Graysen Wolfe as children. Matt and Sadie made their home in Idaho Falls where he worked as an HVAC technician for Alpha Mechanical. 

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, darts, baseball, football, and basketball.

Matt is survived by his loving wife, Sadie Wellard of Idaho Falls; children, Ashley (Brian) Allen of Idaho Falls, ID, Chanse Wellard of Ontario, OR, Katelyn Carney of Idaho Falls, ID, Jayden Wellard of Idaho Falls, ID, Justice Wolfe of Idaho Falls, ID, Hadden Wolfe of Idaho Falls, ID, Kristi Wolfe of Idaho Falls, ID, Graysen Wolfe of Idaho Falls, ID, David Smart of Idaho Falls, ID, parents, Brad and Sherry Wellard of Idaho Falls, ID; sister, Brandy (Jason) Freeman of Ririe, ID; and seven grandchildren, Preston, Jackson, Kaylee, Bentley, Rownan, Luna, and Whip (miracle).

He was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Shirlene Summers and Donna Wellard; grandfathers, Lonn Eddins and Dallas Wellard; grandparents, Jess and Dorothy Scovil; aunts, Peggy Clark, Linda Merrill, and Karen Brady; uncles, Michael and Jerry Wellard; grandson, Killian Matthew Allen.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 21, 2022, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 6:30-8 p.m. and Friday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services, both visitations at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery.

Matt’s family would like to express their gratitude to the nurses and staff at One Source Home Health & Hospice and Teton Cancer Institute, who took such wonderful care of him.
