Marti Louise Casper, 76, of Idaho Falls, passed away July 16, 2023, at her home, surrounded by her family after a long battle with cancer. She was under the care of Hands of Hope Hospice. Marti was born November 13, 1946, in Boise, Idaho, to Robert Franklin Carroll and Edith Margaret Abbott Carroll. She grew up the third from the youngest child of eight children. Her life was not easy, and her family had very few resources. Marti and her siblings spent time in an orphanage in Boise, Idaho, and fought for the success they later had. Marti attended schools in Boise and graduated from Great Falls College in Montana. Marti had been married previously, but married the love of her life on May 24, 1985. She married Dale Melvin Casper in Nevada. Marti and Dale made their home in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Marti took pride in her work and won countless awards and recognition during her over 30 years at the INEL in Homeland Security division. Marti never let the dust settle and was always an active and involved community member. She was active in the Professional Secretary International, an active activist for women against domestic violence, and an active member of Watersprings Church. Marti loved her family! She could always be counted on to show up an hour early to every event her grandchildren were featured in, beaming with pride and taking or stealing pictures that would later be used in her scrapbooks. She loved the outdoors, camping, fishing, hunting, and spent a week every year, for many years, at Stanley Lake scrapbooking. She loved to scrapbook and created beautiful books for her loved ones. Marti was full of life and laughter, her beautiful smile and laughter will be missed. Marti is survived by her son, Ed Burnham of Soda Springs, ID; daughter, Dawn K. Bailey of Idaho Falls, ID; son, John David Lea, II of Boise, ID; granddaughter, Dominee Hall of Pocatello, ID; grandson, Jared Parli of Navarre, FL; grandson, John David, Jr. of Fargo, ND; sister, Margie Johnson of Great Falls, MT; sister, Angela Tucker of Fresno, CA; and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Edith Carroll; her husband, Dale Melvin Casper, and her siblings James Richard, Ramona Dawn, Rayond Eugene, Edward Daniel, and Robert Lelund. Services will be held at 4:30 p.m. Monday, September 11, 2023, at Watersprings Church, 4250 South 25th East, with Pastor Shane officiating. The family will visit with friends from 5:30 to 7:30 following the funeral.
