Marietta (Smith) Allen

Marietta Allen, 67, of Idaho Falls, passed away April 19, 2023, at her home. Marietta was born January 28, 1956, in Nashville, Tennessee, to J Harold Smith and Ruth Alice Jensen Smith. Growing up in Oregon and California, she was always passionate in following her interests and making her dreams a reality. She first attended high school in Oregon and graduated from Leland High School in California. Thereafter, Marietta attended the University of Oregon and Brigham Young University-Idaho, where she studied accounting. On March 22, 1975, she married the love her life, Donald Robert Allen, in Oakland, California. As part of their life's adventures in raising seven children, Marietta and Don lived in Oregon, Utah, Texas, California, Colorado, New Mexico, and Idaho. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she shared her love of the gospel of Jesus Christ with her children and grandchildren and infused those principles into every aspect of her life. Marietta enjoyed participating in all forms of outdoor activities, especially when family was involved. From biking the Hiawatha Trail to exploring the national parks or just being with family in the mountains or near a lake. Marietta especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and actively supporting their individual interests and goals. Marietta is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Don Allen of Idaho Falls, ID; her seven children, Donetta Allen of New York, NY, Melinda Allen of Albuquerque, NM, Jonathan (Kate) Allen of North Liberty, IA, Sabrina (Brad) Jones of Albuquerque, NM, Christopher (Ixchelle) Allen of Baker City, OR, Nicholas Allen of Livingston, MT, and Jessica (Robert) Sletto of Atwater, CA; and 13 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Julie Grant; and brother, Joseph Smith.
