Madge Frost Hope, 93, of Ammon, passed away January 17, 2022, at The Gables Assisted Living Center of Idaho Falls. She was under the care of Hands of Hope Hospice and her loving family.
Madge was born May 16, 1928, in Snowflake, Arizona, to Jesse Allen Frost and Dorothy Wells Frost. She grew up and attended grades 1-9 in Snowflake. By her Sophomore year, the family had moved to Gallup, New Mexico. She attended her Junior year in Phoenix, Arizona, where she was living with an aunt and uncle helping care for the couple’s young children. Finally, for her Senior year, she was living with her older, married sister, in Santa Ana, California, and that is where she met Lester.
On July 23, 1946, she married Lester Eli Hope in the Idaho Falls Temple. Madge and Lester eventually made their home in Idaho Falls where Madge devoted herself to nurturing her seven children. Once all the children were old enough to be in school, she began working outside the home at Riverview Hospital, managing the business office. She worked there until the newly completed EIRMC facility was scheduled to take over formal operations, retiring after 17 loyal years.
She was a lifelong, active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in whatever she was called to do. She particularly loved serving in the Idaho Falls Temple as an ordinance worker for many years. Additionally, she was a member of a local chapter of Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She was a humble, accomplished seamstress and a beautiful singer, she never sought the limelight. Even in her nineties, her soprano voice remained clear, though delicate.
Madge is survived by her children, Valerie (Steve) Loveland of Ammon, ID, Jana (Gary) Draper of Idaho Falls, Stephen (Jammie) Hope of San Tan Valley, AZ, Richard (Jana) Hope of Salt Lake City, UT, Emily (David) Juett of West Valley, UT, LaRee (Brian) Hawkes of Sugar City, ID and Dianna (Blaine) Tuft of Highland, UT; 40 grandchildren, 96 great grandchildren (including 2 on the way) and 3 great-great-grandchildren (including 1 due any day!).
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Dorothy Frost; husband, Lester Hope; sister, Madalynne Faler; twin brothers, Bruce and Druce Frost; sister, Alda Chavis; sister, Marylouise Sullivan; brother, Robert D. Frost; sister, Sharon Maynerich; and a great granddaughter, Rachel Terece Bundy.
