IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Lucius Gheen "Lu" Hale, 83, of Idaho Falls, passed away January 6, 2009, at his home. He was under the care of Idaho Home Health and Hospice.
He was born January 25, 1925, at Afton, Wyoming to George A. Hale and Stella Gheen Hale. He grew up and attended schools in Afton. He later moved to Terreton where he lived most of his life.
In 1949, he married Ina Jean Zumbrennen in Montpelier, Idaho. He worked as a Highway Maintenance Supervisor for the State of Idaho Highway Department for 33 years. Following his retirement in 1986, they moved to Idaho Falls. Lu was a charter member of the West Jefferson Lion's Club.
His wife, Ina, preceded him in death on April 24, 1995. On November 23, 1996, he married Barbara Hawker in Terreton and they lived in Idaho Falls, Idaho and Overton, Nevada.

Stepdaughter: Michelle (Bill) Squires, Idaho Falls, ID
Stepson: Scott (Keri) Hawker, Boise, ID
Stepson: John (Tracy) Hawker, Idaho Falls, ID
Sister: Wyoma Rowe, Chicago, IL
Sister: Alta Barr, Layton, UT
9 Grandchildren, 12 Step Grandchildren, and 12 Great Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife and a daughter, Bonnie Lou.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 10, 2009, at the Terreton LDS Ward, 1509 North 1300 East, with Bishop Charles Johnson of the Idaho Falls 7th Ward, officiating.
The family will visit with friends Friday from 6:30-8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home (273 N. Ridge) and on Saturday from 10-10:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the West Jefferson Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
