Lisa Doney Bateman, 59, of Iona, passed away at her home in Iona on September 14, 2023, after a hard fought battle with Corticobasal Degeneration (a rare progressive neurological disorder). She was under the care of her loving husband, Curtis, and Hospice of Eastern Idaho.
Lisa was born January 27, 1964, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Horace Val Doney and Jeanine Bradford Doney. She grew up and attended schools in Ammon and graduated from Bonneville High School. She also attended cosmetology school.
On June 3, 1983, she married Curtis Dee Bateman in Idaho Falls. They were later sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple. They were blessed with three children, Tyrel, Chellsea, and Judd. They made their home in Iona, Idaho. Lisa worked as a secretary, bookkeeper, and special needs’ teacher for School District #93. She loved the people she worked with, and they have supported her with love and kindness throughout her illness.
Lisa loved the Savior and was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in various capacities through the years, including as Relief Society President, Young Women President, Nursery Leader, and Sunday School teacher. She was a great influence upon those she associated with. She enjoyed serving others and shared many of her baked goods, desserts and goodies with others. She was a great cook and enjoyed many gatherings, feeding family and friends. Lisa enjoyed doing hair/cosmetology, cooking, sewing, crafts, traveling, and anything outdoors, including gardening, camping, hiking, running, riding road bikes, and much more.
Lisa is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Curtis Bateman of Iona, ID; son, Tyrel (Steffani) Bateman of Arco, ID; daughter, Chellsea (Mitch) Jensen of Taber, Alberta, Canada; son, Judd Bateman of Idaho Falls; brothers, Curt Doney of Idaho Falls and Kevin (Tracy) Doney of Riverton, UT; sister, Leanne (Clark) Nobel of Bountiful, UT; and 7 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Val and Jeanine Doney, and brother, Larry Dean Doney.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, September 22, 2023, at the Iona Stake Center, 7555 North 55th East, with Bishop Kodi Holdaway officiating. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 6:30-8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road, and Friday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Iona Cemetery.
