Leah Belknap, 18, of Idaho Falls, passed away June 26, 2021.
Leah was born August 22, 2002, in Provo, Utah. She lived in American Fork before moving to Idaho Falls with her family when she was four. She attended schools in Clarkston, Washington, and Idaho Falls, Idaho. She graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 2020 and was studying English at Brigham Young University-Idaho in Rexburg.
Leah had the biggest and brightest personality. Comfortable in her own skin, she was unapologetically Leah, and we all loved and admired her for it. She was smart with a crazy wit and an affinity for cheesy puns. Possessing an encyclopedic knowledge, she would share information about everything you could ever want to know, and probably a few things you didn’t. She was spunky, sassy, and unafraid to share her opinion. Even still, she was a passionate champion of the underdog and a true example of accepting and loving everyone no matter their circumstances or differences. She had the incredible ability of lighting up an entire room just by walking in and smiling.
Leah was passionate about her fandoms, enjoyed their cosplay, and could analyze theories about them for hours. She loved spending time with her siblings and organized innumerable skits and shows to star in with them. It was this ability that made her great with little kids too, especially her younger cousins, who she loved wrangling into imaginative games and contests. As she grew up, she became a proud theater nerd, acting and participating in drama throughout high school and bringing her extraordinary theater voice home. We are so grateful that we now have hours and hours of her performances.
A true creator, Leah spent countless hours drawing, painting, making jewelry and inventive crafts. She loved reading and writing and had big plans of becoming a literary agent in New York someday.
When Leah wasn’t working or at school, you could probably find her texting, talking to, or hanging out with her best friend of nearly eight years, Brady Packer. Incredibly loving and supportive of one another, Leah and Brady shared an unbreakable bond, and while we are inconsolable to have lost them both in a tragic car accident, we are comforted to know that they are together.
Leah is survived by her mother, Shauna Holyoak; father, Richard Belknap; stepfather, Mike Holyoak; brother, Harrison Holyoak; brother, Kaleb Belknap; sister, Claire Holyoak; brother, Zack Belknap; sister, Carma Holyoak; brother, Greyson Holyoak; grandmother, Lynda Siegel, grandmother, Rhonda Barnes; grandmother, Patricia Holyoak; grandfather, Derek Davis; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins who love her so much.
She was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Ralph Barnes and Earl Holyoak.
Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon Thursday, July 1, 2021, at the Rose Park Ward, 1165 Azalea Drive, with Bishop Bradley Chapman officiating. Her family will visit with friends from 11-11:45 a.m. prior to services. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery.
