Layne Fluckiger, 48, of Idaho Falls, passed away June 5, 2020, at his home. He was under the care of Solace Hospice.
Layne was born October 23, 1971, in Afton, Wyoming, to Glen Fluckiger and Eva Mae Olson Fluckiger. He grew up and attended schools in Osmond and Afton, Wyoming, and graduated from Star Valley High School. He also attended Bridgerland Technical College where he earned a technical degree. In 1994, Layne married Mandy Abegglen, and together they had two chidren: Treycen and Maegen; they later divorced.
Layne was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He worked as a diesel mechanic and was known to be excellent with his hands; he could truly fix anything. Throughout his life, he worked for Bedda’s Farms, Doug Andrus Trucking, the State of Idaho, Idaho Fish & Game, and Big O’ Tires. In his spare time, he created engravings, elk horn work, and leatherwork, and also knew how to weld. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing in his spare time.
Layne is survived by his children, Treycen Fluckiger of Rigby, ID, and Maegen Fluckiger of Rexburg, ID; sisters, Mary Kaylene McDonald of Afton, WY, Jan (Ted) Harmon of Fairview, WY, Cheryl (Charles) Sutter of Afton, WY, Dixie (Hal) Hepworth of Auburn, WY, Jill (Mathew) Roberts of Thayne, WY, Glenda (Jay) Nelson of Auburn, WY, and Judy Fluckiger of Ririe, ID; and a brother, Larry (Alison) Fluckiger of Osmond, WY.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Eva Fluckiger.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 13, in the Afton Cemetery in Afton, Wyoming.
