Kyle Lynn Kent

With deepest sorrow, we announce that Kyle Lynn Kent, 40, of Idaho Falls, passed away on February 13, 2023, at his residence.

Kyle was born in Rexburg, Idaho, to Warren and Leah Hedelius Kent on April 7, 1982. He and his twin sister, Amy, were the youngest in a family of five. He was teased relentlessly for being the only blonde in a family of red-heads, but we believe it only made him stronger. Kyle was indeed a strong-willed child, and he carried that characteristic into adulthood. He sure didn't do anything half-way; he worked hard, he played hard, and he loved hard with his whole heart. He'd be the first in line to put you in your place, but he was also the first in line to give you the shirt off his own back. If you were lucky enough to be part of his family, you know that he'd protect you fiercely and with everything he had.

In 2004, Kyle enlisted into the United States Army and served as a CH-47 Helicopter Mechanic until his honorable discharge in 2008. His medals include: ★ Army Good Conduct Medal ★ National Defense Service Medal ★ Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal ★ Iraq Campaign Medal with Campaign Star ★ Army Service Ribbon ★ Overseas Service Ribbon

Since that time, Kyle found his passion for driving 18-wheelers on Alaskan icy roads. He hauled freight from Prudhoe Bay, Alaska, over icy rivers and lakes to a staging yard for the hit TV-show ‘Ice Road Truckers.’ Although he was never part of the show, he traversed dangerous roads all the same. Eventually, he would leave Alaska in search of something else. Even though he made the decision to move back to Idaho Falls, his love of trucking never ceased. Kyle went on to purchase his own truck and drive for himself for a period of time under his own LLC called 211 Trucking. Little did he know that an opportunity would present itself in the form of driving to and from the oil fields in North Dakota. So, he wound up leasing his personal truck to Accelerate Freight and went to work for A&M Trucking out of Rigby, Idaho. Kyle’s final trip to the North Dakota oil fields was done with his daughter, Kinsley, as co-pilot. On February 7th, he posted on Facebook about that trip, “My little co-pilot to go back to North Dakota to get the truck I had an accident with in January. She was such a trooper for the whole journey. It’s good to finally be home.”

Those who knew Kyle, even just a little, lost a shining light in their lives.

Kyle will be missed everyday by his daughter, Kinsley Lynn Kent; his step-children, Landon and Emalyn Olsen; his parents, Warren and Leah Kent; his brothers, David, Carl, and Michael Kent; his twin sister, Amy Polkinghorn; his loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and many, many great friends.
