Kelly Todd Salinas was born on August 19,1957, to Charles Paul Salinas and Josene Hannah (Krull) Salinas in Redding, California. He returned home to his Father in Heaven on November 17, 2023, after a six year battle with ALS.
Kelly was a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and attended the Sage Lakes Ward in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He has served as a Sunday School Teacher, Elders Quorum President, Home Teacher, Family History Consultant, and a member of the High Council. His callings as a husband, father and grandfather were the most sacred to him.
Kelly moved to Idaho from California in 2019, after being diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's disease in 2018. While in California, he owned a construction company called 12 x 12 Construction. When the building industry took a huge decline he returned to school and obtained a Bachelors of Science Degree in Nuclear Imaging, graduating at the top of his class. He then worked for many years in Redding, California for IN/ID Imaging and then for Nuclear Imaging Associates as a Nuclear Technologist.
He had a great sense of humor and was known for his silly "dad jokes". He always had a smile on his face and brought laughter and smiles to those around him. Kelly could always be found giving service to others and volunteering to help with service projects at church. Any other free time was spent doing projects at home for his family. He loved to ride his motorcycle and he loved to build things. A simple comment from his wife would result in lumber being delivered and something being built, or an alteration being made on their home. He was a devoted family man and will always be a superhero to his children and grandchildren.
Kelly loved attending the temple and attended right up to a month prior to his passing. His faith never wavered and he bore his testimony on Fast Sunday without fail. Even when he could no longer speak, he would type his testimony and have it read for him.
He is survived by his eternal sweetheart, April Salinas; three daughters, Melissa Gale, Sarah (Clint) Pracna and Amanda (Cory) Schaefer; seven grandchildren, Aiden, Malachi, Aurora, Kaydence, Isaac, Wyatt and McKenzie; sister, Jennifer Keith(Marty); and brother, Kevin Salinas(Karen), as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at the Sage Lakes Ward Building, 3370 N. 5th W., Idaho Falls, Idaho. The family will visit with friends Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue, and Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until 5:45 p.m. prior to services at the church.
