Katy (St. Amand) Pirnie

Brenda "Katy" Pirnie, 59, of Ammon, Idaho, passed away March 9, 2021, at the hospital, surrounded by close family, after fighting a long, COVID-19 related battle. 

Katy was born on September 24, 1961, in Boise, Idaho, to Robert St. Amand and Clare St. Amand, while her father was serving at Mountain Home Air Force Base. Katy had fond memories of growing up with her two brothers in various places like Bermuda, Maine, and Idaho. Throughout her life, she remained close to her brothers and their families.

In her adult life, she enjoyed working as an in-home caregiver for a number of years with her mother in Boise, Idaho. In 2001, after more than 20 years, Katy reconnected with the love of her life, Kevin Pirnie. They married later that year. Kevin had two children, Johnathon and Kristina, whom she adopted as her own in 2009. Kevin and Katy always believed their family was hand-picked and placed together by the hand of God.

Katy was a devout, born-again Christian who always put God first in her life. Enjoying weekly Sunday service with her husband was a special highlight of her week. She was always supportive of her family, and enjoyed serving and helping others in any way she was able. Katy enjoyed the simplicities of life, and taking in the beauty of life around her. She loved crocheting, reading, playing the ukulele, and listening to all types of music. Katy especially cherished her time with her grandchildren, and took on the role as a grandmother with enthusiasm. 

Katy is survived by her husband, Kevin Pirnie of Ammon, Idaho; son, Johnathon Pirnie of Pocatello, Idaho; daughter, Kristina (Tyler) Paesl of Idaho Falls, Idaho; brother, John (Yvonne) St. Amand of Garden City, Idaho; brother Kevin (Jaylene) St. Amand of Puyallup, WA; and three grandchildren, Lucy, Karter, and baby Paesl.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Clare St. Amand.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 13, 2021, at Calvary Baptist Church, 785 1st Street, Idaho Falls, Idaho, with Pastor Matt McGukin officiating. The family will visit with friends Friday, March 12, 2021, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road, and again Saturday, March 13, 2021, from 12 p.m. to 12:45 p.m. prior to services at the church. Funeral services will be streamed live from the Calvary Baptist Church Facebook page at https://m.facebook.com/CBCIF/. Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery following the funeral service.
