Josh Perotto Obituary

Joshua “Josh” James Perotto, 49, of Idaho Falls, passed away April 14, 2024, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.

Josh was born October 12, 1974, in Burley, Idaho, to James “Jim” Darrel Perotto and Carol Lee Nelson. He spent his early years growing up in Paul, Idaho, spending summers with his dad and family in Salmon, Idaho. When he was 14 years old, he moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho, to live with his dad.

Josh made his home in Idaho Falls where he applied his skills in construction and masonry, and was an all-around tradesman. He had a passion for creating things that brought joy to everyone… except for his garage-built go-kart (“and it was really big… and really bad… and Josh did it!”). Whether it was crafting new inventions to entertain the kids and grandkids or indulging in his love for riding motorcycles and the scooters he built himself, he was always bursting with inventive ideas. His boundless creativity meant he was often the first to come up with some wild concept, and he had the skills to bring it to life. And let’s be honest, he enjoyed his creations just as much, if not more, than anyone else.

Josh’s unique sense of humor, filled with inside jokes, will forever be cherished. Game nights and movie nights were never dull in his company; they were always filled with laughter and excitement. Any moment spent with him was anything but ordinary, and that's what made them truly special. Despite his hard exterior, he had a heart filled with compassion and love for those close to him. Having never envisioned himself in the roles, he excelled as a stepdad and grandfather. He leaves behind a legacy of strength and ingenuity.

Josh is survived by his partner of 19 years, Heather Aschliman; children, Jalisa, Jacob, and Isac; stepmother, Louise “Laurie” Perotto of Idaho Falls, ID; his brother, Christopher (Alma) Perotto of Twin Falls, ID; sisters, Megan (Jeremy) Pugh-Curtis of Kerby, OR and Sacha (Mike) Johnson of Pocatello, ID; grandchildren, Melinee and Alex; nephews and nieces, Alen, Eliana, Myla, Titus, and Avery; and many more loving family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jim Perotto; mother, Carol Nelson; grandparents, Phillip and Dora Perotto, Don Lee Nelson and Ione Anderson; and uncles, Phil Perotto and Randy Nelson.

Instead of flowers, please consider donating to your local no-kill animal shelter. Josh's love for dogs began the moment he welcomed his first furry companion into his life. He found a kindred spirit in these loyal creatures and his home was a haven for wagging tails, wet noses…and mud!

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
