Gloria Ann (Bass) Erikson

Gloria Ann Bass Erikson, 88, passed away in Idaho Falls, Idaho on July 6, 2020, from natural causes. A  funeral was held at Wood Funeral Home in Ammon, Idaho on July 13, 2020 with family and a few friends.

Gloria was born February 13, 1932 in Greenville, Texas to Randolph Cedric and Lillie Merl Gore Bass. It was in a small Texas country town that Gloria's aunts, uncles and grandmother took her in and gladly cared for her, as her mother worked to provide, and her father went to war.

She graduated from high school and went on to college at Denver University, graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Speech Therapy. It was while she attended college, in 1954, that she met, courted, and married Arthur Erikson in 1954. Soon the young couple welcomed their first of four children.  Arthur took a job as a Chemist, working for the Idaho National Engineering Laboratories in 1957, making their home in Southeast Idaho. Gloria and Arthur later had three more children, two boys and a girl. Gloria stayed at home, caring for her children, making her family a home.

She was a loving mother and had a generous heart, often seeking out those in need and sharing with them from what she had. She was kind and a faithful Christian. She loved to read her Bible, books, and poetry.

In her later years, when speech was difficult, she found new ways of sharing her deep love by blowing kisses and offering hugs to the friends and staff at the Good Samaritan nursing home. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Gloria is survived by her daughter Karen Johnson and her husband Terry of Idaho Falls; her son Stephen Erikson and his wife Heather of Beverly, Massachusetts; eighteen grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Erikson; son Erik Erikson; and son Peter Erikson.
