Garrett Insco Obituary

Garrett James Insco, age 43, passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at his home in Idaho Falls, Idaho.

He was born on September 17, 1979, to father, Joseph Insco, and mother, Cheryl Diane Insco (Kemp), in Redwood City, California.

The Insco family moved to Idaho Falls from California where Garrett attended and graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1997. In 2000, Garrett met his first wife, Erin Sutherlin, at their workplace. In 2001, Erin finally introduced Garrett to his oldest daughter, Emma Caroline Paulsen (Insco), whom he open-heartedly adopted on September 27, 2006. In the meantime, they had their second daughter, Hannah Joyce Insco, on November 3, 2002. They were married in March 2005, but later divorced in 2007.

In June of 2007, Garrett met Kayla Insco (Rodriquez) in Island Park, Idaho. It was the same summer on a trip to Mesa Falls with his girls, they began to fall in love and officially moved in together in 2009. They had an amazing, but far too short, life together filled with camping, fishing, hunting, and many other memorable adventures. They were married December 21, 2021.

Garrett made a successful career in the road construction industry, starting out as a laborer on a highway paving crew, and eventually became a paving foreman with HK Contractors. He very much cared for those that worked closely with him and would do anything and everything for those co-workers he called friends. He truly had a heart of gold.

Garrett was a one-of-a-kind man who dedicated all of himself to his family and friends. He was the type of person that brought people together, used his self-taught cooking skills to be sure they had a homemade meal (usually smoked meat from a fresh hunt), a few drinks, perhaps a game of Call-of-Duty, and many laughs that will never be forgotten.

Garrett is survived by his loving wife, Kayla Insco (Rodriquez); two cherished daughters, Emma (Cole) Paulsen and Hannah Insco; adored granddaughter, Annalee Paulsen; younger brother, Christopher Insco; and father, Joseph Insco.
He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Cheryl Insco; kindhearted uncle, Mark Kemp; dearest grandfather and grandmother, John and Joyce Kemp.

Please join Garrett’s family in celebrating Garrett’s life at a memorial gathering on Thursday, December 8, 2022, from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road.
