Garde Bowman

Charles Garde Bowman, 88, of Ammon, passed away May 5, 2022, at Sage Grove Assisted Living, under the care of Hands of Hope Hospice. 

Garde was born May 1, 1934, in Aberdeen, Idaho, to Charles Taggart Bowman and Mary Audrey Walker Bowman. He grew up and attended grade school in Aberdeen and later moved to Idaho Falls. He graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1953.

On July 30, 1953, he married Beverly Gladys Halgren in the Idaho Falls Temple. Garde and Beverly settled with their family in Ammon, Idaho. Garde worked several years with Electrical Wholesale and other various sales jobs. He later retired from the INL TAN facility.

He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in various callings throughout his life. He and Beverly served a mission in Perth, Australia, and also loved their service as temple workers in the Idaho Falls Temple. He was a world-renowned yodeler and won several awards traveling around with the Western Heritage Balladeers and Cowboy Poets of Idaho. He loved performing and telling stories of cowboy trail ballads. He loved being in the outdoors and taught his family to love all outdoor sports and recreation. 

Garde is survived by his loving wife, Beverly Bowman of  Ammon, ID (currently residing at Sage Grove Assisted Living); son, Ric (Robyn) Bowman of Idaho Falls; son, Rod (Peggy) Bowman of Clinton, UT; daughter, Cynthia Lee (David) Patterson of Soda Springs, ID; son, Kevin (Carolyn) Bowman of Payson, UT; daughter, Sandra (Kendall) Jorgensen of Ammon, ID; daughter, Julie (Rodney) Torkelson of Ammon, ID; sister, Maureen Bowman England of American Falls, ID; brother, C. Wyn (Deanne) Bowman of Washington, UT; 30 grandchildren, 80 great grandchildren, and almost three great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Rodonna B. Bowman; grandson, Kade Keith Nickerson; brother-in-law, Gerald England; and son-in-law, Maurice "Mo" Lewis.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 13, 2022, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road, with Bishop J.T. Carle of the Ammon 18th Ward officiating. The family will visit with friends from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery.
