Eric Owen Obituary

Eric Owen, 43, of Idaho Falls, passed away February 26, 2021, in Idaho Falls.

Eric was born May 29,1977, in Bountiful, Utah, to David Ralph Owen and Cheryl Ward Owen. He grew up and attended schools in Taylorsville, Utah, and graduated from Taylorsville High School. Eric also attended Snow College and graduated from BYU Provo.

On August 22, 2015, he married Allison Amelia Bromley in the Salt Lake City Temple. Eric and Allison made their home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where Eric owned and operated Mountain Heritage Hardwoods.

Eric was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Eric’s life was full of interests and passions. Eric had a passion for biking that he also inspired in others. Sports and being physically active were an important part of his life and what led him to pursue his degree in exercise physiology. Eric’s father inspired in him a deep love and appreciation for the beauty of the earth and the solace that comes from nature. Eric enjoyed scouting and earned his Eagle Scout Award. Eric found joy in creating experiences that brought people together, such as hiking, camping and dutch oven cooking.

At a young age, he was introduced to the movie The Man From Snowy River which ignited his love for horses. You can imagine his excitement at finding a woman and her family who shared this love. It was only fitting that their relationship was solidified on a horseback ride.

Eric had a deep appreciation for the arts and was a craftsman himself in his leather and wood working talents. While building a home together, his wife Allison was constantly amazed at the many skills he was able to provide in the building of their home. His family was his greatest priority. His nieces and nephews sparked joy in his life. His mother modeled a sensitivity and caring for those around her. Eric was generous and sensitive in his relationships with others. Because it was important to him that people felt loved, he made genuine and caring efforts to stay connected. Eric will be greatly missed by all who loved and admired him. Eric’s body could not keep up with his spirit. We are comforted in knowing that he is in the presence of our loving Heavenly Father and in our knowledge that we will all be together again.

Eric is survived by his loving wife, Allison Amelia Owen of Idaho Falls, Idaho; parents; David Ralph and Cheryl Ward Owen; grandfather, Melvel Owen; his siblings, Shawn (Amei) Owen, Carrie (Daniel) Starr, Shelly (Michael) Dowdle, Melissa (Tyler) Garritson, and several beloved nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lorin and Donna Ward, and Virginia Owen.
