Donna Marie (McCaskey) King

Donna Marie King, 59, of Idaho Falls, passed away September 18, 2022, at Idaho Falls Community Hospital.

Donna was born January 29, 1963, in Port Townsend, Washington, to James Richard McCaskey and Margaret Ellen Thompson McCaskey. James passed away when Donna was two years old.  Her family moved to Wellsville, Utah. When Donna was 5 years old, her mother, Margaret remarried. Donna was raised to maturity by her stepfather, Dick William Holmes. At the age of 15, her family moved to Port Ludlow, Washington. She attended Chimacum Schools until graduation. She later went on to attend Ricks College for one year.

On May 5, 1983, she married Christopher David King in the Seattle, Washington LDS Temple. They were married for nearly 40 years. Donna and Christopher raised their family in Chimacum, Washington, and later moved to Idaho Falls. In Washington, Donna worked in retail and later as a Corporate officer in the glass manufacturing industry. In Idaho, she worked in retail.

Donna was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was very talented and had many hobbies. She enjoyed writing short stories, scrapbooking, creative journaling, and playing the Animal Crossing Game, and binge watching crime dramas. She had a creative touch for decorating and a unique talent for putting together outfits to wear. She loved shoes, clothes, and fun jewelry!

She enjoyed her husband's sometimes overzealous sense of humor; mostly responding with laughter and other times with a playful scowl. She spent time in the outdoors in their RV, oftentimes sharing these adventures with her grandchildren. It was always a special time for her.

Donna's most important last wish with her husband was that the kids and grandkids never get forgotten or buried in the mix of life's activities. She loved her children and grandchildren.

She had many friends and loved ones and never had anything bad to say about anyone. She was loyal and committed to those who surrounded her. She stood her ground, yet was kind and gentle in the process.

Donna is survived by her loving husband, Christopher David King of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Kendra Lenae King; son, Christopher Michael King; son, Gavin Paul King; and mother, Margaret Ellen Holmes and father, Dick Holmes. Siblings, oldest to youngest include: Tamie (Phil) Whitlatch, of LaVerkin, UT; Laurie (Danny) Wake of Nyssa, OR; James (Kim) McCaskey of Port Ludlow, WA; Dick (Teresa) Holmes II of Lacey, WA; Rick (Sonja) Holmes of Fairview, OR; Kristie (Scott) Broderson of Poulsbo, WA; Blake (Melisa) Holmes of Poulsbo, WA; Melinda (Andrew) Wing of Belfair, WA, Dustin (Dorothy) Holmes of Buckley, WA; and Melissa (Lance) Parker of Hereford, AZ; and 3 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 24, 2022, at the Willowbrook Ward, 955 Memorial Drive, with Bishop Grant Campbell officiating. A family gathering and prayer will be in the Relief Society room from 10-10:55 a.m. prior to services at the church. A luncheon will follow at 12:30 p.m.
