Christopher Rafn Sr. Obituary

Christopher Ray Rafn Sr., 71, of Idaho Falls, passed away March 25, 2024.

Christopher was born January 15, 1953, in Bakersfield, California, to Bruce Alan Rafn and Helen Louise Rhoads Rafn.

Christopher met his sweetheart, Linda Marie Hurst, in Salem, Oregon. He took her to her Senior prom where he swept her off her feet and they were married six months later in the Oakland California Temple. This December will be their 50th Wedding Anniversary. Christopher and Linda made their home in Washougal, Washington, where they raised their family for 30 years. Christopher worked as a Environmental Engineer for the City of Portland, Oregon, for 23 years. After retirement, they moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho, where they have enjoyed spending time with family and traveling.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in various callings, including Bishopric, Elders Quorum President, Seminary Teacher, Temple Ordinance worker, and many others as well as being a devoted ministering brother. He served a church mission in the Indiana - Michigan Mission from 1972-1974.

He loved sports, including football, basketball, baseball, tennis, and his beloved BYU Cougars. He enjoyed attending sporting events with friends and family.

As a devoted father, he loved to play with his children, joke around, play sports, and attend their various activities. He always made sure to tell his children how proud he was of them. He was a lover of music and shared that love with his children including making up his own harmonies to many songs.

Chris loved his grandchildren and was often seen playing with them using his wonderful imagination.  Family meant everything to him. He loved teaching and sharing about the gospel of Jesus Christ to his family and friends. He has been a great example of how to live with gratefulness and how to put family first. He will be missed by all.

Christopher is survived by wife Linda Rafn; children, CJ (Maria), Mark (Kristine), Eric (Melisa), Michelle (Michael), Andy (Cindy), and Stephanie; siblings, Ron (Vicky), Connie (Jerry), and Nikki (Jay); and 16 grandchildren, and 2 great grand children.

He is preceded in death by his parents Bruce Alan Rafn and Helen Louise (Rhoads) Rafn.
