Cary John Phelps, 58, of Ucon, passed away October 7, 2021, at his home.
Cary was born August 23, 1963, in Montpelier, Idaho, to Joel Hawley Phelps and Janet Eileen Marler Phelps. He grew up and attended schools in Salt Lake City before attending Job Corps in Montana, where he learned a trade in framing, and graduated from High School.
In 1986, he married Christine Goodfellow where they had one child, later divorced. On June 3, 1994, he married Courtney Averett in West Valley, Utah, later divorced. They had seven children. Cary made his home in Ucon, Idaho, where he worked as a landscaper as of late. He loved spending time with his children, woodworking, fishing, camping, and working on cars.
Cary is survived by his mother, Janet Eileen Woodbury of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Nathaniel Cary Phelps; daughter, CaryAnna McKenzie Averet; son, Zachary Averett Phelps (Teyler); son, Tristan John Phelps; daughter, Katelynn Jaime Phelps; son, Micah Averett (Finn) Phelps; daughter, Riley Ashlynn Phelps; and son, Payton Scott Phelps all of Salt Lake City, UT; brother, Joel Hawley Phelps, Jr. of Idaho Falls, ID; sister, Wendy Eileen Koplin of Salt Lake City, UT; sister, Rebecca Diane (Eric) Fitts of Pleasant Grove, UT; brother, Christopher Scott (Sheila) Phelps of Idaho Falls, ID; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joel Hawley Phelps, Sr.; brothers, Micheal and James Phelps; and many Aunts and Uncles.
Services will be announced at a later date. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to suicide prevention advocates.
