Beverly Gladys Halgren Bowman, 88, of Rigby, passed away August 23, 2023, at Sage Grove Assisted Living. She was under the care of Hands of Hope Hospice and surrounded by her loving family.
Beverly was born May 8, 1935, in Blackfoot, Idaho, to Clifford John Halgren and Gladys Ellen Murdock Halgren. She grew up and attended schools in Idaho Falls and graduated from Idaho Falls High School.
On July 30, 1953, she married Charles Garde Bowman in the Idaho Falls Temple. Beverly and Garde made their home in Ammon and raised six beautiful children together. Beverly worked as a sales representative for Handleman Company. She managed the swimming lessons at the Ammon Swimming pool in the 70’s. She also worked as a grocery clerk at Buttrey’s Grocery Store.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and she and Garde served a mission in Perth, Australia. They also worked as temple workers in the Idaho Falls Temple. She served in various church callings, however, one of her favorites was as Girls' Camp Director for the Young Women. She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. Beverly enjoyed sewing and she made most of her daughters’ prom dresses and made Cindy’s wedding dress. Her hobbies included cooking, dancing, camping, four-wheeling, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends. She loved going with Garde and listening to him perform with the Western Heritage Balladeers and The Cowboy Poets of Idaho. They made many friends as they traveled around.
Beverly is survived by her loving children, Ric Garde (Robyn) Bowman of Idaho Falls, ID, Rod A. (Peggy) Bowman of Clinton, UT, Cynthia Lee (David) Patterson of Soda Springs, ID, Kevin Halgren (Carolyn) Bowman of Payson, UT, Sandra Lyn (Kendall) Jorgensen of Ammon, ID, Julie Ann (Rodney) Torkelson of Ammon, ID; 30 grandchildren, 82 great grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brother, Jay Murdock Halgren; grandson, Kade Keith Nickerson; son-in-law, Maurice St. Michael Lewis; sister-in-law, Maureen (Gerald, deceased) Bowman England.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 2, 2023, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road, with Cory Brower officiating. The family will visit with friends from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services. The services will be broadcast live to this page. Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery.
