Andrew Hane Obituary

Andrew “Andy” Paul Hane passed away February 26, 2024, at home.

Andy was born on July 9, 1951, to Dana and Phil Hane. He was the youngest boy out of six children. He had three brothers and two sisters. He was raised on the family farm in Connell, Washington. He attended Washington State University where he played baseball. He then spent a few years partying and getting up to mischief before meeting his wife, Claudette, who had two little girls and together, they added one more child to their family. For the love of his wife and children, he put his drinking days behind him and focused on raising his family, and he maintained his sobriety for over 41 years. Over the years of being a firm, but loving and fair “step” dad to the girls, he transcended the title “step” and just became dad to Wendy, Kristen, and Ryan. He was a solver of problems and giver of good advice. He was beloved by all his children.

Andy and Claudette made their home in Warden, Washington, where Andy managed Warden Produce for many years and Claudette was a homemaker. After his retirement, he spent a few months living in Hawaii, and after that, splitting his time between his kids in Wenatchee, Washington, and Idaho Falls, Idaho, and the family cabin in Washington, mostly hanging his hat in Idaho Falls where he baked cookies for his grandkids, took his grandson fishing, spent a little time gambling, and in general, enjoying life. He enjoyed playing golf, shooting pool with friends, hunting, fishing, reading, and traveling when he could. Most of all, he enjoyed people. He was beloved by many. He spent as much time as he could with his grandkids and the rest of his family. He was known for his sense of humor and always had a joke or a funny story to tell. He was loyal, dependable, and the kind of person people felt safe taking their problems to. He was never judgmental and was never heard to say an unkind word about anyone.

Andy is survived by his children: Wendy Maguire and wife, Anita, of Cosmopolis, WA, Kristen Kimmey and husband, Drew, of Idaho Falls, ID, Ryan Hane and wife, Kristi, of Wenatchee, WA; siblings: Dan Hane (Gail) of Kennewick, WA, Jeanne Scott (Mike) of Pasco, WA, and Cathy “Footy” Sherer (Stan) of Sparks, NV; 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; as well as an ex-son-in-law, Scott; and ex-daughter-in law, Melody, who still called him dad because he was a one of a kind person who did not care about words like “step” or “ex.” Family was family to him.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Claudette; his parents, Phil and Dana Hane; brothers, Terry Hane and Gary (Topper) Hane; and nephews, Drew Hane and Joshua Scott.
