IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Yvonne Mae Gough Speirs, 59, of Idaho Falls, passed away peacefully with her family at her bedside, on Friday, November 7, 2008, from complications of cancer.
She was born May 9, 1949, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, the third of five children born to Calvin Henry Gough and Marie Louise Pilotte Gough. Yvonne attended schools in Idaho Falls, graduating in the first class from Skyline High School in 1967.

Yvonne worked in retail in her early life, yet her true love was being around children. She worked many years in School District 93 as a playground duty and office aid at Ammon and Iona Elementary Schools. Even though she was in the office, she would always sneak out to jump rope and play games with the kids, which included some of her grandchildren.
Yvonne loved being active and was heavily involved in the sports activities of her children and grandchildren. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in the Primary and Young Women organizations.

I've known Yvonne for a long time. We went to school together, lived by each other, our boys ran around together, we coached together and we laughed together. I thought of her often the last couple of years. She fought a good fight and is now at peace. She will be missed and always loved for the wonderful person she was.
Love, Julie

Dear Doug,Shawn and Family:
Les and I would like to express our sorrow at the loss of your Wife and Mother Yvonne. I have known Yvonne since high school and have always loved her. My daughter Brandi worked in retail with her during her high school days and loved every day of their friendship. I will always remember her beautiful smile and her great personality and the great conversations about how much she loved all of you. She told me last year she sure as hell was not going to cook Thanksgiving dinner, she was mad about having cancer and was rebelling about having some "phoney" cheerfulness. I loved it! We have lost her too soon. I will miss her . . . and send you all our love and prayers. Sincerely, Les and Darla Barlow

Yvonne's family, I only knew Yvonne from the gym and would see her at an occasional kids football game. Yvonne's distinctive voice and lovely smile greeting me at the Apple made it feel like an extension of home. She (proud wife, Mom, Grandma) would chatter on about her great family. Often about how accomplished you are including your sports prowess. I feel lucky to have known Yvonne. Know that Yvonne will be missed by many people whose hearts she touched over the years. God bless Yvonne and God bless all of you.

We send our most sincere condolences to your family. Yvonne had such a positive influence on the children she worked with. She was always Trevor's fave duty at the elementary school. It didn't matter where we were she took the time to speak to him and b a part of his life. She will be missed by many. We know that where much is given much is required and we also testify the where much is required many blessings are given. May you continue to feel the love of your Savior at this time and recognize the sweet peace of His atoning sacrifice.
