YVonne Olsen, 88, of Iona, passed away February 25, 2025, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
YVonne was born July 7, 1936, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Alfred Lionel Alvey and Sarah Elizabeth Finn Alvey. She attended school in Idaho Falls and graduated from Idaho Falls High School.
On July 29, 1954, she married Wayne L. Olsen, and their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on May 25, 1960. In 1958, they built a home in Iona, Idaho, where they raised their family.
She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings over the years, including Primary teacher, secretary, counselor, and president, and she also served in Relief Society. She loved to sew clothing for her children and others. She always had a nice garden and did lots of canning.
She gave many years of dedicated service to TOPS Club, Inc., serving as an officer in local chapters and as State Coordinator for 17 years. She drove a school bus in District 93 for 28 years. She will be remembered for the many comical readings she gave around the area over the years. She loved family get-together’s and reunions.
Later in life, YVonne joined the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers in which she loved spending time talking with members about any family history connection there may have been before or after previous generations arrived in Utah.
She was always an example of love and service. YVonne shared herself freely with her family and friends. She was always there for a daughter who was ill most of her life.
YVonne is survived by her son, David Olsen of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Robert A. (Doreen) Olsen of Spanaway, WA; son, James R. (Marie) Olsen of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Julie Kay Olsen of Canandaigua, NY; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
