Yvonne Anderson, 93, of Idaho Falls, passed away September 26, 2023, at Idaho Falls Community Hospital.
Yvonne was born September 23, 1930, in Providence, Utah, to Leon R Mathews and Ethel Muir Mathews. She was the eighth of nine children. Her father passed away when she was nine years old and her mother passed five years later. At that time, she moved to Ogden, Utah, to live with her oldest sister. In her younger years, she worked many different jobs in the retail industry as a cashier.
In 1948, she married Robert J. Read. Two years later, they had a son who only lived three days. At that time, they moved to Idaho Falls and bought a home. Robert passed away in 1951.
On January 5, 1952, she married Eugene John Anderson. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Ogden Temple. Yvonne and Eugene built a home in Roberts on a farm where they raised their family. They lived on the farm for 50 years. In 2004, they bought a home in Ammon.
Yvonne was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served faithfully in many callings in the church, including the Relief Society, Young Women's, and the scouting program.
She was creative and gifted when it came to arts and crafts. She enjoyed embroidery and making ribbons and bows. She loved gift wrapping and making cookies and candy.
Yvonne is survived by her son, John M (Jan) Anderson of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, LaNette Anderson of Twin Falls, ID; son, Gary E (Kelli) Anderson of Salome, AZ; and sister, Charlotte Gullo of Pueblo, CO; 12 grandchildren and 46 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, and grandsons, Joshua Tay Anderson and Archer Benson Anderson.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 29, 2023, at the Lincoln 3rd Ward, 2545 Mesa Street, with Bishop Dan Thurman officiating. The family will visit with friends from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in the New Sweden Cemetery.
