Wynn Pettingill

Wynn M. Pettingill 69, of Idaho Falls, passed away September 8, 2016, from a very courageous battle of cancer at Hospice House of East Idaho.

Wynn was born March 23, 1947, in Rigby, Idaho, to Mirl & Lucille Pettingill. He had older siblings Darlene Craig (Bill) and Shane (Louise), and a younger brother, Reed (Madeline). He grew up in Idaho Falls and attended school at Idaho Falls High School. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War.

On May 28, 1970, he married Trina Smith in Idaho Falls. They were married for 28 years. He then married Betty Turner. They were together for 15 years. They later divorced. Wynn was an electrician and lineman for the INEEL for many years. He retired in 2000. After retiring he became an avid golfer and was very proud of his accomplishments, including the hole-in-one at Pinecrest #16.

Wynn is survived by children and grandchildren: Katrina Fisher (Ron), Bryant & Branden; Stephanie Carter (JC), Dustin, Chase & Brandon, great grandson, Cooper; Eric Pettingill (Michele), Adam, Chance & Kasia; Robin Pettingill (Jennifer), Michaela & Trace; Tyler Pettingill (Andi), Lexi & Avery; and Casey Pettingill (Hollie), Corbin & Gavin.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Wynn was a wonderful father, but proved to have a love for his grandchildren and doted on them until his death. Wynn was the most non-judgmental man you could ever meet. If you were a friend of Wynn's, you were a friend for life. He will be dearly missed by all.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, September 16, 2016, at the Idaho Falls Elks Lodge #1087, followed immediately by a celebration of life.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of Eastern Idaho, hospiceofeasternidaho.com.
