Wilma Terrell

After a long and eventful life Wilma Louise "Stevie" Scott Terrell left her mortal sojourn Wednesday, September 27, 2017, at her home. Born May 4, 1922, in Kane, Wyoming, Stevie spent her early years fishing with her father and participating in school activities. She had a beautiful voice and sang in many school musicals. After high school graduation in 1941, she attended the fall semester at BYU Provo. With the attack on Pearl Harbor and the subsequent onset of war in the Pacific Theater, she left college and worked for the government assisting with the rationing program in Cheyenne. It was there that she met a dashing young airline pilot, Dwight Edgar Terrell, and fell in love. They were married May 16, 1942, in Cheyenne, Wyoming, and moved to Chicago, where her husband started his career as a commercial pilot with United Air Lines. This began a life filled with travel throughout the United States and the world. They lived in Chicago for many years before her husband was transferred to Denver, Colorado. She was active in Arapahoe County and Colorado Republican politics, bridge clubs, enjoyed playing golf, and spending time with friends. She was an avid investor in real estate and the stock market. She remained in Denver until her 80's when, due to failing health, she moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho, to live with her daughter and son-in-law. Later, again due to health, she moved to Lincoln Court in Idaho Falls, where she passed. She was preceded in death by her husband, Terry Terrell, a granddaughter, Lori Flatland, a great grandson, Ryan Marcus Hansen, and a great-great granddaughter, Zyra Rose Flatland. She is survived by her daughter, Dani (Mark) Hansen of Idaho Falls, ID, son, Scott Terrell of Applewood, Golden, Colorado, as well as six grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and five great great grandchildren. A gathering for family and friends will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Saturday, October 7, 2017, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Avenue. Graveside Services will be held next week in Fairmount Cemetery in Denver, Colorado.
