William “Bill” Scott, 86, of Rigby, Idaho, passed away on May 13, 2026, of cancer.
Bill was born on September 19, 1939, in Villisca, Iowa to Robert Thomas Scott & Ruth Fryer Scott. After graduating from Villisca High School in Iowa, he moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho. He married Verna Bush in the Idaho Falls Presbyterian Church on April 28, 1961. They had three children, Lester, Pamela, and Hollie.
Bill worked for contractors in the U.S. Army, Navy, and Air Force (aerospace), and civilian nuclear programs before retiring in 1999. He was very fortunate to have a job where he got to travel to Russia, rode in a submarine, and worked in Washington DC.
Bill liked to travel and camp with his family and friends. Fishing and traveling in Alaska and staying on their boat in the San Juan Islands and Canada. Before he became ill, he spent most of his time collecting and restoring old guns and antiques.
Bill is survived by his wife, Verna of 65 years; his son, Lester (Stacy) Scott; daughter, Pamela (Troy) Porter; daughter, Hollie (Matthew) Mikami; and 4 grandsons and 2 great-grandchildren.
