William J Ritchie, 89, of Ucon, passed away January 5, 2013, at his home. He was under the care of Hands of Hope Hospice.
Bill was born July 1, 1923, in Ucon, Idaho, to John Coop Ritchie and Grace Maude Price Ritchie. He attended schools at Ucon.
On October 4, 1945, he married Afton Maxine Anthony at the Bonneville County Courthouse in Idaho Falls. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on June 10, 1980. To this union were born four children, William, Loyd, Junetta, and Susan. William and Afton made their home in Ucon and Bill worked as a carpenter for 50 years. Bill was involved with building the Palisades Dam, churches, businesses, and homes in the Idaho Falls, Rigby, and Rexburg areas.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Bill enjoyed building toys for his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Brother: Jack Ritchie of Idaho Falls, ID;
Half sister, Janette Thompson of Moreland, ID;
Half sister, Wilma McIntier of Idaho Falls, ID;
Half brother, Glenn Campbell of American Falls, ID;
4 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Ruth Basham, a great granddaughter, Carly Goodson, a daughter-in-law, Eileen Ritchie, and a step granddaughter, Melissa Belnap.
The family especially thanks Hands of Hope Hospice for their kindness and care.
Funeral Services will be held at 12 Noon Friday, January 11, 2013, at the Ucon LDS Yellowstone Ward, 2967 East 105 North, with Bishop Jon Holst officiating. The family will visit with friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road, and from 11 to 11:45 a.m. Friday at the church. Burial will be in the Ucon Cemetery.
