WILLIAM "PETE" OTTINO
SALT LAKE CITY, UT -- William A. “Pete” Ottino,
77, of Swan Valley, died March 26, 2004, at Huntsman Cancer Unit of University
Hospital in Salt Lake City, UT due to surgery complications.
He was born September 16, 1926, in Max, Missouri to Grant
Ottino and Roxy Jarman Ottino, the oldest of 3 children. He grew up and
attended schools in Kentucky.
He joined the U.S. Navy in January of 1945. He served
in three wars: World War II, Korean Conflict, and the Vietnam War. He
was an instructor of nuclear powered vessels and served a MAAG tour of
duty in Taiwan as an Electronic Instructor to the Chinese Navy. In Vietnam,
he was an electrician on an aircraft carrier that serviced photo reconnaissance
airplanes.
After his retirement he spent some time in Oregon. He
later moved to Idaho where he had spent some time at the INEL during his
25 year military service.
In August of 1980, he married Edna R. Harden in Cody,
Wyoming. They have lived in Swan Valley since their marriage and spent
13 winters on the Oregon Coast and the last 4 winters in Overton, Nevada.
He was a member of the American Legion for 22 years and served in many
offices at the local, district and state level.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, spending time in the mountains,
and his many friends. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren;
LaRita Dial and Tyla (Mike) Kingston of Idaho Falls, Brian, Mike and Dustin
Harden of Gillette, Wyoming, and great-grandchildren; Jessica and Jennifer
of Idaho Falls.

Wife: Edna Ottino, Swan Valley, ID
Stepdaughter: Lexi (Estle) Traughber, Irwin, ID
Stepson: Lane (Diana) Harden, Gillette, WY
Sister: Eleanor (Joe) Crump, Hebron, KY
5 Grandchildren and 3 Great Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and brother, Richard Ottino.
At Pete’s request, there will be no funeral service.

Ridge, in Idaho Falls.
