BILL JACOBSEN
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- William “Bill” Jacobsen, 84, of Idaho Falls, died March 21, 2006, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
He was born February 14, 1922, at Swan Lake, Idaho, to William Jacobsen and Phoebe Waddups Jacobsen. Growing up, he first attended a little school that his father had built for the community near his home. Later his family moved to Pocatello.
He served in the U. S. Coast Guard in World War II on the USS Leonard Wood. He participated in eight major battles, including: the Battle at Saipan and Midway. He worked alongside his father learning the masonry business. He later owned his own construction company, Carlson & Jacobsen Construction of Idaho Falls.
On March 9, 1942, he married Margaret Carolyn Patton of Eureka, California. They made their home in Pocatello for many years, moving to Idaho Falls in 1953.
Bill was a self-educated man and was very well read. He was a master gardener, avid fisherman, jewelry maker, and photographer. He loved his dogs, a good game of pool, and traveling to Mexico and Arizona and the many friends they made while traveling.
He was an entrepreneur of stocks and bonds and excelled in everything he did. He especially loved his dear wife, Margaret, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Hannah, Hugh, Richard, and Georgana.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 25, 2006, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge. The family will visit with friends Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday for one hour prior to the services, both at Wood Funeral Home.
Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
