William Hummel

William Blaine Hummel, 86, of Idaho Falls, passed away April 25, 2015, at his home. William was born June 9, 1928, in Mankato, Minnesota, to Horase Hummel and Elsie Antone Hummel. He grew up and attended schools in Minnesota. On August 27, 1972, he married Opal Pearl Sheppard in Paris, Idaho. William and Opal made their home in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He worked as a logger. They owned a Phillips 66 gas station and a trailer court in West Yellowstone, Wyoming. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He loved the outdoors. He was a great storyteller. He loved kids and animals and made fun wherever he was. William is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Opal Hummel of Idaho Falls, ID; stepson, Ron Sheppard of Idaho Falls, ID; brother, Bob (Judy) Hummel of Tampa, FL; sister, Barbara (Lyle) Nordquist of Park Rapids, MN; sister, Harriet (Donald, deceased) Schmitz of Park Rapids, MN; sister, MaryLou ( Ray) Schmitz of West Concord, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Sandra Hummel. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 30, 2015, at Calvary Baptist Church, 785 - 1st Street.
