William "Bill" Elsworth Hawley

William “Bill” Elsworth Hawley, 77, of Idaho Falls, passed away May 23, 2026, at his home.

Bill was born May 17, 1949, in Hillsboro, IL, to Lawrence Elsworth Hawley and Dorothy Manuell Hawley. He grew up and attended schools in Hillsboro and graduated from Hillsboro High School. In 1968-1970, Bill was drafted into the United States Army and stationed in Germany.

On May 17, 1971, he married the love of his life, Mary Jane Stevens, in Hillsboro, IL. Bill and Mary made their home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where Bill co-owned a concrete business for many years before becoming a public works inspector for the City of Idaho Falls.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, snowmobiling, cooking and baking, and most of all spending time with his friends and family, whom he adored.

Bill is survived by his daughter, Misty Hawley of Idaho Falls, ID, daughter, Sondra Witcher of Pocatello, ID, son, Steve (Debbie) Woolf of Idaho Falls, ID; sister, Deborah White of Decatur, IL, sister, June (Robert) Bell of Witt, IL, brother, Bryan Hawley of Dalton City, IL; grandchildren, Rian Hawley, Tosha Welch, Mandy (Sebastian) März, Kelsey (Hayden) Green, Emma Woolf, Jeremiah Woolf, Shantell Crowson, Bridgette Edwards, Zachary Woolf, Michael (Ashley) Woolf, and Britney Woolf; 26 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane Hawley, son, Shane Woolf; parents, Lawrence and Dorothy Hawley; sister, Marsha Hawley; and his grandparents.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, June 20, 2026, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Avenue. Military Honors will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Idaho Honor Guard.
