WILLIAM "BILL" ERICKSON IDAHO FALLS, ID -- William Arthur “Bill” Erickson, 90, of Idaho Falls, died January 14, 2004, at Good Samaritan Nursing Center. He was born October 11, 1913, at Hallock, Minnesota, to Christopher A. Erickson and Anna C. Anderson Erickson. He received his BS degree in Electrical Engineering from North Dakota State University at Fargo. He spent the first six years of his career with the Army Corps of Engineers in Montana. On March 21, 1938, he married Gladys Mattson of Hallock, Minnesota, at Glasgow, Montana. He spent three years as a Lieutenant in the U. S. Navy during World War II and then went to work with the Atomic Energy Commission in Schenectady, New York, and transferred to the Atomic Energy Commission in Idaho Falls in 1950. He was serving as the Director of the Contracts and Supply Division at his retirement in 1971 after 34 years of service. He belonged to the First Lutheran Church in Idaho Falls. He was a charter member of the Idaho Falls Russet Lions Club. He was President of the Russets in 1965, was a Melvin Jones Fellow international recipient for dedicated humanitarian services and was also given the Life Lion Award. In addition he was recognized as Lion of the Year three different times and received the Club's highest award, Mr. Russet, twice. Bill's hobbies included woodworking, wood carving, golf, camping, and fishing. Surviving are: Wife: Gladys Erickson, Idaho Falls, ID Son: William “Bill” [Barbara] Erickson, Poulsbo, WA Son: Joe Erickson, Salt Lake City, UT He was preceded in death by his parents. Private Graveside Services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Wood Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials to the Idaho Sight Foundation, c/o Idaho Falls Russet Lions Club, P. O. Box 2861, Idaho Falls, ID 83403.
