William Telford “Bill” Denning, 81, of Iona, passed away May 7, 2011, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls, surrounded by his loved ones. Bill was born September 20, 1929, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to George Williams Denning and Zoie Telford Denning. He grew up in Iona and attended schools there. He graduated from Iona High School in 1947. Bill was a lifelong resident of Iona. On May 15, 1950, he married Patrecia Clark, also a lifelong Iona resident, in Iona. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on November 9, 1951. Bill worked at Denning Grocery and was a salesman at C. C. Anderson Company and Sears in his youth. He and Pat decided to start up a business and owned and operated Holiday Laundry. In 1961 they opened The Mart Appliance Center. When they moved the business to it’s present location at Broadway & Yellowstone in 1969, they changed the name to Denning’s Showkase. Bill also farmed and raised cattle from 1970 until the present. Patrecia passed away June 6, 2001. An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Bill served in the Young Men, Seventies, High Council, as Bishop of the Iona First Ward, as Stake Finance Clerk, and in the Iona Stake Presidency. He loved farming, cattle, fishing, golf, travel and watching his grandkids and grand nieces and nephews play ball, but most of all, he loved spending time with his family; they are his greatest joy. He loved being a husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Grandpa Bill will be missed. Bill is survived by a son, Rick (Debbie) Denning of Iona, ID; a daughter, Jan (Rick) Rowberry of Iona, ID; a brother, Richard (LeAnn) Denning of Lehi, UT; two sisters, ZoAnn (Dwayne) Simmons of Iona, ID, and Maryette (Spencer) Lott of Idaho Falls, ID; 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and sweetheart, Pat, two brothers, George Telford Denning and John Telford Denning, and two sisters, Lamae Denning and Gem Denning Winder. Funeral Services will be held at 12 Noon Thursday, May 12, 2011, at the Iona LDS Stake Center, 7555 North 55 East, Idaho Falls, with Bishop Byard Cox of the Iona LDS Second Ward officiating. The family will visit with friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road, and Thursday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the church.
