WILLIAM W. BLACK
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Judge William Warren Black, 80, of
Idaho Falls died suddenly on May 13, 2004 in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
He was born on July 26, 1923, in Pocatello, Idaho to
Margeretta Irene (Keefer) and Claude Raymond Black. The grandson of William
W. Keefer, he grew up in Idaho Falls and graduated from Idaho Falls High
School in 1941.
He attended and graduated from Colorado College in Colorado
Springs, Colorado in 1945. He met and married the love of his life and
his best friend, Lorraine Womack on April 1, 1945. He graduated from University
of Idaho College of Laws with a Jurist Doctorate in 1956. He began his
career as a Judge while attending University of Idaho. After his graduation
they moved back to Idaho Falls and continued his Judgeship as an Administrative
Magistrate for the 7th Judicial District until his retirement in 1988.
He served for six years on the permanent Judicial Counsel
of the Presbyterian Synod of the Pacific, USA.
After retirement he enjoyed traveling with his wife to
visit his brother in San Diego, California, t
rips to Disney World, and numerous other locations in the United States.
He loved his animals and always found time to take care of them. He spent
countless hours tending to the needs of the squirrels, birds and other
animals that came into his backyard.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Lorraine; his
brother, Raymond Lee Black of San Diego, California; their children, Patricia
Wilkinson, William C Black (Kay), Terri Fohrenck (Bill), Greg Black (Robin),
and Michael Dale Black (Marcy) all of Idaho Falls, Idaho. He was the proud
grandfather of twelve grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He
was preceded in death by his parents and two grandchildren.
Most people knew only his gruff exterior but inside he
was a true marshmallow. He touched countless lives with generosity and
kindness and never expected a word of thanks. He loved his family and
friends unconditionally; he was loved the same in return.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m., May 17,
2004 at the 1st Presbyterian Church at 325 Elm in Idaho Falls, Idaho with
Reverend Dr. Dennis Falasco officiating. Funeral arrangements are under
the direction of Wood Funeral Home in Idaho Falls.
