William Elzy Bennett

William Elzy Bennett, 80, of Idaho Falls, passed away April 14, 2025, at his home.

Bill was born October 3, 1944, in Benkelman, Nebraska, to Joey R. Goddard and Bernice Alta Bennett. He grew up and attended schools in Boise, Idaho. He also attended Boise State College where he earned an associate’s degree.

On November 10, 1966, he married Judy Emma Smith in the Idaho Falls Temple. Bill and Judy made their home in Idaho Falls, where Bill worked as a warranty clerk and serviceman at Wackerli Auto Group. Bill had a skill for being able to listen to a car and determine what was wrong.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed fishing, camping, boating, and fun trips to Jackpot, Nevada, by bus.

Bill is survived by his wife, Judy Bennett of Idaho Falls, ID.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Honey and Tookie.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road. The family will visit with friends  from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to services. Burial will be in the Sutton Cemetery in Archer.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to your local animal shelter.
