Bill Axley

William Kenneth Axley, 92, of Idaho Falls, passed away October 13, 2025, at his home. He was under the care of Brio Hospice.

Bill was born March 10, 1933, in Madisonville, TN, to Reed Kenneth Axley and Lula Kinser Axley. He grew up and attended schools in Madisonville and graduated from Madisonville High School.

In 1950, after graduation, Bill enlisted in the United States Army during the Korean War where he earned a Korean Service Medal with 4 bronze stars. He also completed an apprenticeship with the U.S. Department of Defense and earned an Expert Marksman Award.

On March 21, 1954, he married Charlene Founier in Reno, NV. Bill and Charlene made their home in Vallejo, CA, where Bill worked as an advanced nuclear planner for United States Government on the Mare Island Navel Base.

He was a member of the Methodist Church. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and hunting in Idaho, traveling, and being with his family. He was also a skilled craftsman.

Bill is survived by his wife, Charlene Axley; son, Richard Axley, son, Douglas E. Axley, daughter, Melanie Bement; ; sister, Joan Arwood, sister, Charlotte Borden; 7 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Reed Axley and Lula Axley; brother, Frank Axley; and sister, Jeanette Manchester.
