Willard Burke

WILLARD L. BURKE IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Willard L. Burke, 79, of Island Park, Idaho and Ivins, Utah, died August 1, 2004 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. He was born November 9, 1924 in Iona, Idaho to Samuel B. Burke and Sarah Longhurst Burke. He was raised in Iona and attended schools in the area. He also attended Ricks College and the University of Idaho. He served in the Army during World War II. On September 2, 1947 he married Furla Davies in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He worked for Union Pacific where he loaded the rail road cars. He worked at Coca Cola Bottling where he retired after 37 years. He finished his career working for Service Vending Company. Following retirement, they spent their winters in Quartzsite, Arizona, and summers in Island Park after which they moved to Ivins, Utah. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where he served as the Ward Clerk and in the Ammon 3rd Ward Bishopric. He enjoyed bookkeeping, history, and watching the stock market. Surviving are: Wife: Furla Burke, Island Park, ID, and Ivins, UT Son: Daniel Burke Son: Rodney(Gretchen) Burke Daughter: Jan(Tim) Downs, Son: Bradley (Tammy) Burke, Son: Wesley Burke, Son: Ted (Kristie) Burke, Son: Marde (Renee) Burke, Daughter: Jill Burke (Tom) Lindgren, Son: Simon Burke, Sister: Ornealo Lee, Sister: Genevive Smith, 9 Grandchildren, He was preceded in death by a son, Tom. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 p.m.,Thursday, August 5, at Wood Chapel in the Pines (273 N. Ridge) with Marde Burke officiating. The Family will visit with friends Wednesday, August 4 from 7-8:30 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home (273 N. Ridge) and for one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in the Iona Cemetery . Military rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Team The family suggests in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Idaho Botanical Gardens in Boise, Idaho (P.O.
