Wilbert Jensen

Wilbert Roy Jensen, 85, of Ammon, Idaho, passed away February 24, 2013, at his home. He was under the care of his family and Hospice of Eastern Idaho. Wilbert was born October 3, 1927, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Lorentz Jensen and Elvera Meppen Jensen. He grew up in Idaho Falls and attended local schools. During World War II he served as a Private First Class in the U. S. Army. On August 17, 1947, he married Donna Rae Bodily in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Together they raised five children, Barry, Laurie, Kristina, Terri, and JoLene. Wilbert was a farmer and carpenter. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church, Junior Chamber of Commerce, Farm Bureau, Soil Conservation League, and Elks Lodge. He also served as a 4-H Leader. He was an artist and liked painting. Wilbert enjoyed horticulture, HO gauge model trains, wood working and design. Survivors include his loving wife of 65 years, Donna Jensen of Ammon, ID; Son: Barry Wilbert Jensen of Boise, ID; Daughter: Laurie Lynn (Don) Johnson of Idaho Falls, ID; Daughter: Kristina Rae (Neil) Grover of Iona, ID; Daughter: Terri Ellen (David) Jensen of Idaho Falls, ID; Daughter: JoLene (Kirk) Haylett of Corvallis, OR; 13 grandchildren, and 27 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Lyla, Dorothy, and Darlene, and a brother, Darrell. Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 2, 2013, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue, with Reverend Dr. Dennis Falasco of First Presbyterian Church officiating. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Idaho Falls, 325 Elm Street, Idaho Falls, ID 83402 or Hospice of Eastern Idaho, 1810 Moran Street, Idaho Falls, ID 83401.
