Weslie Edmund Molen, 87, of Idaho Falls, passed away Saturday, Nov. 15, 2014, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
Wes was born April 16, 1927, in Idaho Falls, to Earl Simpson Molen and Inez Sarah Staker Molen. He grew up and attended schools in Idaho Falls and graduated from Idaho Falls High School. He also attended Brigham Young University.
Highly patriotic throughout his life, Wes proudly served his country as a corporal in the U. S. Army during World War II. He was a sergeant in the Civil Air Patrol before his Army service.
On June 7, 1950, he married Lois Goodsell in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. To this union were born four children: Scott, Robyn, Mace and Matt. Wes and Lois made their home in Idaho Falls, and Wes worked as a Procurement Agent for Argonne National Laboratory-West, where he continued for 42 years until his retirement. He was the last surviving member of the group that witnessed EBR1 and the lighting of the first light bulb powered by nuclear energy. He also worked in clothing sales for Brown & Gesas and Lamont’s.
An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Wes served in the bishopric, as Elders Quorum president, high priest group leader and was a diligent home teacher and member of the ward choir. He and Lois also served as officiators in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. He loved to play golf and enjoyed movies. He served as president of the Community Concert Series and worked in the voting polls.
Wes was a devoted husband and father and had a strong love for the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Wes is survived by his sons, Scott Molen of Phoenix, Mace (Pam) Molen of Ogden, Utah, and Matt (Tami) Molen of Heber City, Utah; daughter, Robyn (Steve) Brocksome of Boise; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lois, whom passed away July 16, 2007; a brother, Jon Molen; and a sister, Marriann Rohrkemper.
