WESLEY R. CHRISTENSEN
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Wesley Ring Christensen, 83, of Idaho
Falls, passed away December 21, 2004, leaving behind his beloved wife
of 61 years, Armrell Jean, four daughters, Sherry (Arlan) Call of Twin
Falls, Carol (Steve) Permann, of Idaho Falls, Barbara (Craig) Miner of
Springville, Utah, and Joyce (Brad) Scheele of Meridian, and one sister,
Afton Robinson of Grace.
Wesley was born February 10, 1921, in Central, Idaho,
to John E. and Helga Ring Christensen. He grew up and attended schools
in Central with his three brothers, Lyman, France, and Jack, and three
sisters, Afton, Venus, and Jo.
He married Armrell Jean Johnson November 18, 1943, in
Ogden, Utah, and they were later sealed in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple.
He was the love of her life. They met as telegraphers for the railroad
in Bancroft, Idaho. He then served in the U. S. Navy as a Radioman aboard
a troop transport ship, the U.S.S. San Saba, during World War II. Following
the war they moved to Twin Falls and he worked as a State Agent for Farmer's
Insurance Group. He retired in 1972 and they moved to Idaho Falls, where
he worked as an Insurance Agent, retiring in 1977. He then worked as a
Real Estate Agent for Century 21, retiring finally in 1985.
An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints, he served in various capacities over the years. His greatest legacy
is his family of 18 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren, who adored
him and learned many of life's greatest lessons at his knee. A great man's
life is made up of qualities that meet or make great occasions. So it
was with our beloved Husband and Father. Hands were never idle, with much
of his time spent making beautiful handcrafted woodworks for each of the
family members, and many friends, he was always busy making life more
pleasant and beautiful for those who knew and loved him. He was a "gentle"
spirit, with the heart of a giant.
He was an avid outdoorsman, with interests abounding,
such as camping, hunting, fishing, and boating, with a general love for
all things outdoors. He had a sense of humor and an ability to remember
jokes eternally. His "smirky" grin and "unique" laugh
were infectious and will remain with his family and friends always.
Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, December
23, 2004, at the Idaho Falls LDS Woodruff 2nd Ward, 1660 – 12th
Street, with Bishop O'Dell Young officiating. The family will visit with
friends on Thursday for one hour prior to the services at the church.
Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park under the direction
of Wood Funeral Home East Side.
Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County
Veterans Team.
