IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Wesley Gene “Gene” Browning, 75, of Idaho Falls, died May 29, 2003, at his home.
He was born July 13, 1927, in Pocatello, Idaho, to Raymond Irving Browning and Ida Belle Matson Browning. He grew up and attended schools in the area. He served as a Seaman First Class in the U. S. Navy during World War II.
On June 6, 1948, he married Opal Geneve Jordan in Milo. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on June 7, 1967. He worked as a finish carpenter and cabinet maker.
As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served as
High Priest Group Teacher. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and especially being with his family.

Daughter: Pamela (Mark) Merkley, Idaho Falls, ID
Sister: Helen Burgard, Idaho Falls, ID
and 24 Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Amanda.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m Tuesday, June 3, 2003, at the St.
Leon LDS Ward, 6925 North 15th East, with Bishop Robert Kite officiating. The family will meet with friends on Friday from 7-8:30 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge, and for one hour prior to the services Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Team.
